FAQ
What is Graded Pro?
Graded Pro is an AI marking and grading platform for teachers. Set assignments, collect student work, and receive detailed, rubric-linked feedback in seconds. Teachers review, edit, and personalise the feedback before returning it to students. It works across every subject, every level, and every curriculum — from daily homework to AP, GCSE, and IB exams.
How accurate is the AI marking?
On structured questions (maths, science, short-answer), the AI achieves 85% exact match with professional markers and 96% within ±1 mark. On extended writing and essays, it achieves a 0.97 correlation with professional markers — significantly outperforming experienced human examiners, who typically achieve around 0.70. See our full accuracy data →
How does the AI grading system work?
You upload a mark scheme or rubric alongside the student's work. The AI reads both, marks each question against your criteria, and produces detailed feedback with marks linked to specific rubric points. For structured questions, it checks answers against the mark scheme. For extended writing, it uses a levelling process modelled on how trained examiners work — identifying the best-fit level, then positioning within it. The AI reads handwriting, typed text, diagrams, equations, code, and images.
Can I use my own mark scheme or rubric?
Yes — this is how Graded Pro is designed to work. Upload any mark scheme, rubric, or scoring guide and the AI adapts to it. You're not limited to pre-built rubrics or specific exam boards. If you don't have a rubric, the AI can generate one based on the assignment you upload.
What subjects and levels does it support?
Everything. Graded Pro works across all subjects — maths, sciences, English, humanities, languages, arts, computer science, and more. It supports all levels from elementary and primary through to high school, sixth form, college, and university. It's used with Common Core, AP, IB, GCSE, A Level, and other curricula worldwide.
Does it work with handwritten scripts?
Yes. Graded Pro reads handwritten work with high accuracy, including equations, diagrams, and annotations. Students can photograph or scan their handwritten work using the mobile app, or teachers can upload scanned scripts directly. The AI transcribes the handwriting and grades it against the rubric.
Is the AI grade the final grade?
No. The AI provides a first pass — detailed feedback and marks linked to your rubric. Teachers always review the output and can adjust grades, edit comments, add voice notes, and personalise the feedback before returning it to students. Nothing goes back without the teacher's approval.
Can teachers upload student work themselves?
Yes. Teachers can upload student work directly on behalf of students, alongside the other submission methods — Google Classroom, the student portal, and the mobile app.
Can I use Graded Pro as a private or home tutor?
Yes — independent tutors are well-served by Teacher Free and Teacher Pro accounts. As a tutor you act as your own data controller for the student data you process, and Graded Pro acts as your processor. You'll need to handle the usual controller responsibilities: in the UK, that means registering with the ICO where applicable, providing a privacy notice to parents and students, and identifying a lawful basis for processing (typically the contract with the parent or adult student). Our Terms describe this in clause 4. Tutors engaged through an agency or a school-led tutoring programme should come in through that institution's account instead.
How does Graded Pro integrate with Google Classroom?
Graded Pro integrates with Google Classroom so assignments and submissions sync automatically. Create classes within Graded Pro, and they'll link to Google Classroom for distribution and collection. Students submit work as usual through Google Classroom, and Graded Pro picks it up for grading.
Can students submit work without Google Classroom?
Yes. Students can submit directly through the Graded Pro student portal (via a unique assessment code) or through the mobile app by scanning a QR code. Google Classroom is optional, not required.
Can I use a different LMS?
Google Classroom is currently the only LMS integration. We're actively working on adding support for more platforms. In the meantime, teachers can upload student work directly or use the student portal and mobile app for submissions.
What's the difference between a Teacher account and a School account?
Teacher Free and Teacher Pro are individual accounts — designed for teachers exploring the platform, working with anonymised or sample materials, or for independent tutors using Graded Pro on their own behalf. School accounts are how Graded Pro is intended to be used with real student work in a school setting: they include a Data Processing Agreement signed by your school, pooled credits across teachers, a user dashboard, and a dedicated point of contact. The Data Processing Agreement is what makes the processing of student data lawful under UK and EU GDPR, FERPA, and equivalent regimes, so teachers acting on behalf of a school should route real student work through a School Account rather than through a personal Teacher Free or Teacher Pro account.
What does it cost?
Graded Pro uses a flexible credit system — you only pay for what you use. A basic task costs around 3 credits (~1 cent), an in-depth task uses 8–10 credits (~3 cents), and a full exam paper uses around 30 credits (~10 cents). New accounts get 150 free credits to try it out, with 50 free credits per month after that. Teacher Pro accounts are $25 for 6,000 credits with no expiry. School accounts get custom pricing with pooled credits.
How does Graded Pro protect student data?
We take data privacy seriously. Graded Pro is designed for compliance with UK and EU GDPR, FERPA, and COPPA, holds CASA Tier 2 certification, and uses industry-standard encryption. Student work is processed only to provide marking and feedback — we don't sell it, use it for marketing, or use it to train AI models. Where a school uses Graded Pro, the school is the data controller and we act as its processor under a Data Processing Agreement; where an independent tutor uses Graded Pro, the tutor is the controller and we act as their processor.
